Stokes200 Symposium
Stokes200 Symposium
Sunday 15 September 2019 - 9.00 to Wednesday 18 September 2019 - 17.00
Pembroke College, Cambridge
Two hundred years from his birth, Stokes is a towering figure in physics and applied mathematics (fluids, asymptotics, optics, acoustics ...). Organised with the support of Pembroke College, the University of Cambridge, the Institute of Physics and BSHM, this conference will bring together an international group of experts whose work today is based upon the work of Stokes, and aims emphasize his influence and legacy 200 years on. The Stokes200 symposium plans to explore both the modern research fields that have sprung from his work in physics and mathematics, along with the history of how we have got from Stokes’ work to where we are now.
