HiMEd Awards Application Information
How to apply for the HiMEd Awards
Applications for 2024-25 closed on the 12th of June, and the successful candidates will be announced shortly.
Applications will re-open next year and candidates will be expected to a short CV and covering letter to the Education Secretary Ciarán Mac an Bhaird, indicating:
- why you wish to become a HiMEd Award holder;
- the topics in the history of mathematics which you would like to cover;
- any previous experience;
- which age groups your talks would be suitable for;
- the geographical range you are willing/able to travel to.
The combined CV and covering letter should be no more than four A4 pages.
Notes
- 1. Lectureships are held from 1 July to 30 June, renewable for up to five years.
- 2. The BSHM does not cover travel or other costs, as it is assumed that the schools or other venues issuing the invitation will cover these.
- 3. Lecturers are asked to give a short report each year to Council summarising the number and location of talks given, and digital resources produced.
- 4. Appointees should be resident in the UK or Ireland.
