Savilian Professors of Geometry: The first 400 years
2019 marks the 400th anniversary of the founding of Oxford University’s Savilian Professors of Geometry. This one-day meeting comprises seven lectures about the Savilian professors and their life, labours and legacy. It coincides with a small exhibition in the Treasury related to the Savilian Professors of Geometry.
The meeting will be open and free to all, but registration is essential through the Bodleian (which charges a small booking fee).
There is a cafeteria in the Weston library, at which refreshments (such as tea, coffee and a snack lunch) can be purchased at moderate cost. There are also many eating places nearby.

12.30: Lunch break (including some managed visits to the observatory)

15.20: Robin Wilson: G. H. Hardy & E. C. Titchmarsh
16.00: Frances Kirwan: Michael Atiyah and after
16.40: Final remarks (ending by 16.45 pm).
