Meet the Enigma machine: the Maths of Secrecy
Meet the Enigma machine: the Maths of Secrecy
On Thursday 17th October, in Central London, MathsWorldUK are running a code breaking event. Courtesy of Government Communication HeadQuarters (GCHQ), the most famous of coding devices, the Enigma machine, will be visiting us.
Alan Turing is best remembered as one of the leading code breakers of Bletchley Park during World War II. It was Turing's brilliant insights and mathematical mind that helped to break Enigma, the apparently unbreakable code used by the German military. We present the story of Alan Turing and the Enigma machine, and look at how cryptography has moved on with the mathematics behind a public key exchange (Diffe-Hellman).
We hope those of you based in London will take this opportunity to meet the Enigma machine and get under the hood of the maths of secrecy. All booking details at the following link.
