Oliver Heaviside: An electrical genius of the Victorian age
An illustrated Zoom talk by Hugh Griffiths
The self-taught Oliver Heaviside (1850-1925) is known to mathematicians for the Heaviside step function. This talk will explore his life, unusual character, and contributions to electrical engineering, and marks 100 years since his death.
Hugh Griffiths is Professor of Electronic Engineering at University College London. He undertakes research into novel radar systems, and was elected Fellow of the Royal Society in 2021.
