Join Dr Brigitte Stenhouse for an LSE Department of Mathematics public lecture exploring the life and work of mathematician Mary Somerville (1780-1872).

Through the case of Mary Somerville, this lecture will explore what it meant to become a mathematician in the nineteenth century and consider the opportunities, challenges and circumstances that shaped her mathematical life and career.
