Kit Yates, who is the co-director of the Centre for Mathematical Biology at Bath University, will give a talk is on the maths of life and death. Kit will reveal this critical role and the rules and tools of mathematics that can help us navigate the world around us. From choosing the best seat on a train to standing in a queue for the shortest amount of time, he will tell us how we can use the power of maths to hack life and things mathematicians keep hush hush such as sticking to the 37% rule…

The talk will reveal a different side of maths. Equation free, it will provide practical solutions to problems in life, describe how people have been victims of miscalculations and how to avoid them and make the subject work for them. It should be a fun evening full of tips and tricks to use the subject you love to your advantage.
